Pat,think before speaking

Televangelist Pat Robertson has probably done more good for people in one week than I do in a year, but often his words just get him in trouble. Today, it's the aftermath of the earthquake in Haiti, which early reports are of more than 100,000 killed.

Said Robertson on his "700 Club" TV show: "They have been cursed by one thing after another since they swore a pact with the devil."

Robertson continued, saying, "They were under the heel of the French, you know Napoleon the third and whatever. And they got together and swore a pact to the devil.

"They said 'We will serve you if you will get us free from the prince.' True story. And so the devil said, 'Ok it’s a deal.' And they kicked the French out. The Haitians revolted and got something themselves free. But ever since they have been cursed by one thing after another."

How Pat knows what the devil said is anotehr story, but surely he knows it rains on the just and the unjust. Terrible heartwrenching things happen to the most forthright moral people and some of the most evil despicible people seemingly have nothing go wrong. That's happened throughout history.

I don't doubt Haiti is for the most part a godless society, but that doesn't mean God is out there exacting revenge on those who do not follow him. If He were that way, there would be a whole lot of dead Islamist extremists out there.
