D.C. exudes excitement, optimism

We woke up excited to head into the city this morning and get our inauguration tickets from Congressman Thornberry's office this morning.

We've been to Washington D.C. many times, but the atmospehere and city are different on this occassion. You can feel the excitement and almost taste the optimism and hope. Everyone is so friendly and helpful.

We went and found the viewing area for our tickets. They will give us a great view of the proceedings tomorrow. We are struck by the masses of people who are here from every state and even foreign countries - with no tickets for any official event - who just want to be a part of history.

This morning on the Metro we sat with people from Hawaii and Alaska. After our conversation it is clear to us that this experience is a celebration of what unites us all - love of country and a commitment to making it better.

Tomorrow we get up at 4 a.m. and head into D.C. for the big event. We are overwhelmed to be a part of such an amazing and important moment in our country's history.
