Snuggie Pub Crawl

The phenomenon that is the Snuggie just won't go away. The blanket with sleeves has sold more than 4 million nationwide even though, as I wrote nearly three weeks ago, no self-respecting man would ever wear one, especially in public.

Well, maybe now men will. Introducing the Snuggie Pub Crawl. They've had one in Baltimore and they're getting ready for one in Chicago. In fact, there are 15 cities scheduling these for a charity. And if these cities can have one, why not Amarillo?

The Super Bowl of Snuggie Pub Crawls appears to be the one in Chicago. It was originally set for March 21, but to allow more participants to buy one (and you must buy one), it's been moved to April 18. Heck, all you have to do here is go by your friendly Walgreens in Amarillo, put your pride aside and ask which aisle the Snuggies are on.

At Chicago, already 3,259 have signed up for the crawl that will hit seven bars. That's a lot of monks staggering around. One in Baltimore last weekend hit 12 bars, and one is scheduled for San Francisco on March 20.

There's an apparent charge to particpate as an odd charity has been set up to receive the proceeds. It's the AC-Orphanage in Arusha, Tanzania, that rescues orphans whose parents are victims of AIDS or TB. Odd in that surely that's a charity closer to home that would benefit.

I'd say send all those Snuggies to Tanzania as well, but it's probably pretty warm there.

If you will participate (live and in person) I will personally donate to this charity!
