What do you miss about Amarillo?

Ask and ye shall receive. We promoed this elsewhere on amarillo.com and facebook (yes, I'm on facebook, and, no, I don't use it very much but that could change) and the memories have been flooding in.

What are the things you miss about Amarillo? I'm writing a column on the top 10 things I miss about the old girl on Friday. I'm no expert, but I have lived here for 26 years and grew up an hour from here, so I have a pretty good working list. Actually, it's hard to stop at 10.

But what are yours? What restaurants or stores do you miss? What landmarks?
Are there personalities no longer around that you liked? We'll run a collection online of what people miss as well.

The request has hit a nostalgic nerve as the lists have been coming in a good clip. Some of the ones not quite on my list, but very popular among readers include a huge run for Char-Kel, and especially the cheese fritters at that wonderful drive-in on Georgia. Also, Paradise Too, Double Dip, Shakey's Pizza, Dunkin' Donuts and the shopping stores of Colbert's, Blackburn's downtown, the Hub, Klein's, TG&Y, and the Hole in the Mall.

But what's yours? Just post and we'll add them to the list.

I miss the yellow gravy at Meyer's fried chicken.

My thoughts exactly Travis. I also loved watching the little train circling the dining room there.
