A life of hatred

You know a person is an absolute nut when the other fellow crazies distance themselves from him. But that's what's happened with James von Brunn, who opened fire at the Holocaust Museum in Washington, D.C., on Wednesday, killing a security guard before he was wounded himself.

John De Nugent, who described himself as a white separatist, called von Brunn a genius but described the shooting as the act of "a loner and a hothead."

"The responsible white separatist community condemns this," he said. "It makes us look bad."

Von Brunn is 88 years old, and I'd say about 80 years of it was consumed with hate for Jews, blacks, the U.S. government, and practically anything and everything. A profile of him in the Washington Post paints an ugly picture. He even stated he fought on the wrong side in World War II. Looking at his views, he certainly did.

Anyone on a shooting rampage is damning enough. But to be 88 years old and doing that is especially perverted. Von Brunn was charged with murder on Thursday. What a waste of a life.
