Party on, Canada!

Today is your day, our good neighbors to the north. It's Canada Day, which is the country's version of our July 4. On July 1, 1867, Canada was united with its four provinces into a single country.

A bit too late for any Civil War draft dodgers, but it would be a popular destination a century later for those who avoided service during the Vietnam War.

So here's to you, Pamela Anderson, Jim Carrey, Michael J. Fox, Celine Dion, Bryan Adams, Martin Short, Howie Mandel, Neil Young, Paul Shaffer, Joni Mitchell, William Shatner, Keanu Reeves, Alex Trebek, Sarah McLachlan, The Guess Who and Rush.

And may you rest in peace James Naismith, inventor of basketball, comedians Phil Hartman and John Candy, and Bonanza's Lorne Green.

This day is for you. (Plus any excuse to run a picture of Pamela Anderson works for me).
