Subway going way up

I noticed the other day that Subway's now outnumber McDonald's across the U.S. landscape. That's mildly surprising, but nearly as much as when I paid for a meal the other day at Subway.

One value meal: a 6-inch BMT sandwich, chips and a small drink. Total: $7.14. Man, that's getting high. I like Subway for its fast food nutrition, but don't know how long I can keep eating "value" meals like these.

That's got to be about the most expensive combo meal among fast food chains. You can find plenty of nice sit-down meals at lunch for less than that.

$7.14. Wow.
