Trying to help

A tragic accident like the one Booker's Philip Caler suffered in the fall in an Indianapolis mall on Oct. 22 transcends a town's borders. Caler was at a Future Farmers of America convention when he accidentally fell more than 40 feet. He remains in critical, but stable condition and longterm it looks particularly grave.

Friday night at the Gruver and West Texas High football game, the Gruver FFA passed the hat. They raised a reported $850 in a short period of time. How much different that $850 will make is hard to say. Maybe it will help the Caler family who is with their son and away from work, maybe it can help pay utilities or gas for them, who knows.

But the value goes beyond the money. It's just to let a family know that many people in the Panhandle care and are concerned. That much goes beyond money.
