Linda Vaughn: Back in Virginia

I'm just getting back to my sister-in-law's house in Virginia. We had great seats right near the Capitol steps. So many celebrities were in the same section we were. Hally Berry. Bruce Springsteen. Danny Glover. Tony Dungee. Cecile Tyson. Spike Lee. I was interviewed by Inside Edition this morning around 6:00. We got there at 4:30 a.m.

Spotting celebrities by Linda Vaughn

Haley Berry, Tony Dungee are among the throng of people braving this frigid air. I wish everyone could be here to share the momentous occasion. Simply wonderful.

On the Metro at 4 a.m. by Linda Vaughn

City is getting crowded this early. Our Metro has been halted by DC Transit to let the stations clear. We have stopped at Arlington National Cemetery, waiting for the "all clear."

Not a typical morning by Linda Vaughn

It is 4:24 a.m. The Metro is crowded going into town. Everyone is geared up with caps, gloves, coats, but excitment abounds. Talking all around - not like a usual morning commute to town.

An interesting day for Vaughns

This day didn't work as expected. Got delayed, lost, then had to stop for gas. Got to Baltimore finally, and as you might guess the President-elect; VP-elect and families were pulling out.

But the excitment in the air was high and intense. Street vendors were out in abundance. Wait until Tuesday; they will be everywhere.

Not a warm place

It is COLD!!! We went to the Captial and saw where we would sit. The air here is cutting. We brought hand warmers, body warmers, and foot warmers. And we will need them ALL if it's like this on Tuesday.

Vaughns arrive in DC

We are in downtown D.C. headed to the Rayburn building to Congressman Mac Thornberry's office to pick up our tickets to the inaugration. There are port-a-pottys everywhere and red, white and blue siteseeing buses all up and down the streets.

A special pin

One of my fourth-grade teachers gave me a "flag" pin to wear while I'm gone, so I've put it on my top coat already.
