Election trivia question

Do you know why elections are on a Tuesday in November? Sylvania Jeffery asked that question, and volunteered the answer when it became obvious the answer wasn't coming from me.

"America used to be a rural country," he said. "When the harvest was in, people would go to church on Sunday. They would travel by whatever means on Monday so they could get to where they needed to be on Tuesday to vote."

Sounds good to me. So now you can impress your friends with some election knowledge.
