If I were king of the world, I would end school before Memorial Day. It's just awkward after a three-day weekend of remembrance and barbecues and having the day off to gear up for 3 1/2 days of school.
It doesn't directly affect me, either. But trying to gain the attention of restless students who are now in the summer mode has got to be a challenge.
The state isn't going to suddenly lop off five required school days, but I'd vote to start school one week earlier to have graduations on the Friday and Saturday of Memorial Day weekend.
