The United States soccer team scored a huge upset Wednesday, defeating Spain, the world's No. 1-ranked team, 2-0, in South Africa to advance to the finals of the Confederation Cup.
Spain had a 15-game winning streak and had not lost in international competition since 2006.
If the Americans win the Confed Cup, this could be just the thing to make soccer a major sport in the U.S. Just like..
...Pele playing professionally in the U.S. in the 1970s.
...the U.S. hosting the World Cup in 1994.
...the U.S. women winning the World Cup in 1999.
...David Beckham playing professionally in the U.S. over the last couple of years.
Wait, never mind.
