Boy, are we ever in a recession

When Wal-Mart is cutting jobs, you know things are bad in this country. Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. announced it's cutting 700 to 800 jobs at its corporate headquarters in northwestern Arkansas.

Other than Girl Scout Cookies, if there were any business that was recession proof, I thought it would be Wally World.

Last year, Wal-Mart opened 166 new stores, but this year that number will be between 125 and 140.

A Wal-Mart spokesman said the company added 33,800 jobs last year from new stores. Worldwide, it has more than 2 million employees, and 14,000 work at the headquarters.

14,000? There are that many in the Wal-Mart parking lots on any given Saturday in Amarillo.
