Recession-proof cookies

Have you bought your Girl Scout cookies yet? If not, you've got to be among the three or four who haven't. Unless you're hiding out in Palo Duro Canyon -- and even then there may be some enterprising young girl with an order form at Lighthouse Canyon -- you've got to be aware we're smack dab in the middle of what may be the most famous fundraiser there is.

Girl Scout cookie sales have been going on for 92 years. They'll probably be around for 192 years. No fundraiser has the name recognition of this. None.

My Friday column takes a look at the traditional Girl Scout cookie sales. Bet you can't guess how many boxes the Amarillo region sells? We're talking about 100 troops and 2,000 girls.

The total blew me away. There's no recession with the Thin Mints, let's put it that way.
