Root beer floats

Sonic was giving away root beer floats from 8 p.m.-12 a.m. Wednesday night. If you want to attract a crowd, give away something for free.

I intended to stop in last night for a freebie, or at least check out the mob scene. My short term memory being what it is, I forgot. Talking to those who did see how busy Sonic was, well, just say it was reeeal busy. If you wanted free root beer and ice cream, better be prepared to wait a while.

A friend of mine teaches a night class at Amarillo College. A student of his, who works at Sonic, told him earlier in the week that she couldn't be at class Wednesday because her boss was making all employees work during the Great Root Beer Float Giveaway.

I kind of like this trend. If you remember earlier in the year, Denny's gave away free Grand Slam breakfasts on a February morning and IHOP followed with a similar giveaway. Lines went out to the parking lots.
