Battle of the Birds

Sanford-Fritch High School didn't do so well against Class 2A's No. 2-ranked Bushland on the football field, but the Eagles were able to come out on top in another contest.

It was dubbed "Socks for Soldiers Battle of the Birds." It was a contest between the Fritch Eagles and the Bushland Falcons to see who could gather the most pairs of socks for military personnel.

The Fritch student body totaled 1,122 pairs of socks while Bushland had 203 pairs as the contest finished this week. The campaign was headed by Fritch teacher Robin Vela, who husband and Fritch counselor Ernie Vela recently returned from a tour in Iraq.

Congratulations to both schools on their efforts.
